Mixology : The Science Behind the Perfect Drink

Making specialized bubble tea drinks is a lot more like baking than it is like cooking. That precise measurement is vital to making balanced drinks. A bit too much syrup, too little lime, and your finely crafted, boba drink isn’t is as good as it should be. This is why we encourage mixologists to use a jigger. It’s more consistent and delivers better results than “free-pouring”. Of course jiggers aren't limited to mixing your favorite bubble tea drinks. You can use them to mix a cocktail or for any recipe.

Jiggers are very durable, useful, and can be easily rested between your fingers for steady pours.

Stop eyeballing your and start measuring. It is the single most important thing you can do to ensure consistency in your mixes. Imagine if you could create your favorite drink correctly every time? This is why the jigger comes in handy. With the jigger you will make precise measurements that will ensure the measurements to the perfect drink.

How to measure ingredients:

  • Stay accurate.
  • Pour slowly.
  • Sloppy measuring is worse than not measuring at all.
  • Don't hold the jigger over your mixing glass as you pour.
  • I typically hold the jigger between my fingers, pour to the appropriate level, then dump the contents into the glass.
  • Alternatively, you could leave the jigger on the counter and pour into it, but this may increase your chances of making a mess due to less control over the bottle as you pour this low.
